Activities We Share

Our family bushcraft courses introduce a range of practical wilderness skills through hands-on activities designed to be both educational and fun. Each skill is taught step-by-step so that children and adults can participate confidently and safely.

Fire Lighting

Learn how to safely light and maintain a fire using traditional bushcraft methods. Families discover the importance of fire in outdoor survival and how to gather natural materials to start a flame.

Shelter Building

Work together to build natural shelters using tarps and woodland materials. This activity teaches teamwork, creativity and the fundamentals of staying warm and protected in the outdoors.

Woodland Navigation & Orienteering Challenge

Develop basic natural navigation skills and learn how to move confidently through the woodland environment. Families take part in a woodland orienteering challenge.

Campfire Cooking

Create survival bread over an open fire. Families learn how to create fire used for cooking, enjoy sharing food together and toasting marshmallows around the campfire.

Tree & Plant ID & Foraging

Learn how to identify useful and medicinal trees and plants in the woodland environment. These activities help families develop observation skills and a deeper connection to nature.

Archery Practise

For children 8+ years. Learn Practise archery and shooting arrows at a target at selected woodland sites around London, Buckinghamshire & Kent.

Wood Carving

For children 8+ years. Learn about water filtration and purification methods and how to locate clean drinking water in the wild.

Bushcraft Knots

Develop your camp craft skills by learning more about useful knots used in bushcraft, survival and wild camping.

  • Sturdy shoes or boots

  • Waterproof jacket if rain is expected

 

We will provide a full preparation guide before the course.

 

Is bushcraft safe for children?

 

Safety is always our top priority. All activities are carefully supervised by experienced instructors, and tools are introduced in a safe and controlled way appropriate to the age of participants.

 

What happens if the weather is bad?

 

Bushcraft is an outdoor activity and most sessions go ahead in typical weather conditions. In fact, learning to adapt to the environment is part of the experience. In the case of severe weather, we will contact participants to discuss alternative arrangements.

Group sizes are kept small and manageable to ensure everyone receives guidance and support throughout the experience.

 

Can we book a private family bushcraft course?

 

Yes. Private family bushcraft courses can be arranged for families who would prefer a personalised experience or who want to attend with friends. Good news! The larger the group size, we can reduce the cost person attending. So invite your friends!
